Blogs can be seen as enlightening, threatening, or even just dull. However, given the censorship practices of the internet in many countries, people many lack the liberty to express themselves freely through mainstream sources. As such, blogs can prove a vital way of people in these countries to voice their opinions to a wider audience, and can prove a useful indepedent news source. Reporters Without Borders has produced a handbook to help them, with handy tips and technical advice on how to to remain anonymous and to get round censorship, as well as ways to establish credibility by observing basic ethical and journalistic principles.
