AVINA

AVINA is a foundation that works together with civil society and business leaders. It tries to represent a new conception of philanthropy, combining the objectives of nonprofit activities with methods and tools belonging to the business sector.

AVINA teams up with leaders in its initiatives towards sustainable development in Latin America, in diverse areas such as citizen participation and development of community organizations, effective management of natural resources; communication, and formal and non-formal educational programs. It also endorses projects that promote innovative economic activities, support for small and medium-sized enterprises, corporate social responsibility and eco-efficiency (to add value to goods and services using fewer resources while producing less waste and contamination).

AVINA works with its partners in a spirit of commitment and joint venture. It shares with them its experience in establishing attainable goals, and it helps them to better focus their programs. It may contribute financially to their initiatives, often over several years, and help them to raise additional funding. It also brings together civil society and entrepreneurial leaders in order to establish new forms of association between both sectors of society.
